The subcompact car segment in the US has been declining in recent years, due to a number of factors, including the rising cost of fuel, the growing popularity of SUVs and crossovers, and the increasing availability of affordable electric vehicles. In 2021, subcompact cars accounted for just 8.2% of new vehicle sales in the US, down from 9.3% in 2016.
